DeReau is quickly gaining attention and acclaim for his work. He is currently the Resident Music Director for Epic Megalopolis Productions and their much-praised production of JUNK: A Rock Opera (UrbanStages Theater, New York City – May, 2009; Lyric Theater, Los Angeles – August-October, 2007; Steve Allen Theater, Los Angeles – May, 2007), the Artistic Director for Pasadena's Selah Gospel Choir, the Director Youth Music Programs at Scott United Methodist Church in Pasadena, and the Assistant Conductor for The Verdi Chorus in Santa Monica. He has also appeared as Music Director for the Opera Society of Los Angeles production of  The Old Maid and the Thief in 2010, Chorusmaster for the UCLA Semel Institute Health Services Research Center & needtheater co-production of The First Lady (a Chamber Opera) in Los Angeles in 2010, Music Director for the City of Pasadena-sponsored summer production of “The Wiz in Concert!” in 2009, Music Director for Pasadena City College’s production of Spoon River Anthology in 2009, and Guest Music Director for the Fullerton College High School Theater Festival in 2008.

DeReau is a Teaching Artist with Los Angeles Opera’s Education and Outreach programs, was recently the Voice and Choir Teacher for the Harmony Project in Hollywood, and has worked extensively with the choral programs at West Covina High School, Pasadena Waldorf School, Duarte Unified School District, Pacific School of Music and the Arts, and Duarte’s award-winning youth gospel choir, Rejoyce. He has served as the Celebration Arts Minister and Director of the a cappella worship team at Pasadena Church of Christ, the Choral Conductor of Warehouse at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, and the Artistic Director of Hoshana Gospel Choir in Los Angeles.
